Driving from San Clemente to the Grand Canyon

On July 14th, we drove from San Clemente to a campground in Las Vegas. We arrived very late and left early. I took a couple pictures to show that we were going by the Las Vegas Strip late at night (even though we didn’t stop to gamble). Since we were there such a short amount of time, it really didn’t matter that the whole park was dirt and rock without a stitch of grass. The campground did have a dog run that Rick took Annie to (Annie is their Standard Poodle that is traveling with them) and an interesting wrought-iron treatment for the screen on a screened in porch on the campground buildings. After we left Las Vegas, we caravanned to the Grand Canyon. We discovered that our 38-foot diesel with a toll vehicle could not climb the mountains nearly as easily as Rick and Judy’s 32-foot gas with no toll vehicle. So, they ended up waiting up for us or following us slowly quite often.
