Thursday, June 24th through Monday, June 28th
Our friends Tom and Sue moved to Boise about 26 years ago. We have kept in touch with cards since then, and we think we saw each other once again about 20 years ago. But, basically, we haven’t seen them for many years. Since we were on a tour of the western U.S. , we planned to reconnect. We arrived, helped trim their trees, parked our RV in front of their house, and stayed from Thursday afternoon through Monday morning. During those four days, they graciously showed us the gorgeous world in which they live. We saw and did so many things! We watched a gun-shooting contest in Idaho City, felt the hot water pouring out of a mountain, saw amazing mountain scenery (including some distance views of mountain lake areas where Tom fly fishes), visited Ernest Hemingway’s grave, toured Sun Valley resort, visited a salmon hatchery and counting station, shopped at Boise’s amazing outdoor marketplace, went to a national quilt show (but the quilt in the pictures is the one I have in my RV that I am making), celebrated Ellen’s birthday, walked on the Oregon trail, toured some of Boise’s parks, sat in Abe Lincoln’s lap, and visited the Anne Frank Memorial. We also attended the play Batboy in an amazing outdoor theater to which we took wine and a picnic dinner. It was a spectacular night, but photos were not allowed. So, you’ll have to take our word for it that it was fabulous!
